Overview
Nova Media required a web player and distributed architecture that adapts dynamically to network speeds, avoiding buffering and maintaining high quality for live sports broadcasts and video-on-demand.
The challenge
The challenge was avoiding stream freezes even during regional network drops, and manipulating dynamic video manifest files at the edge within nanoseconds.
Our approach
We developed custom buffer and bitrate control algorithms based on HLS.js. For manifest manipulation at the edge, we wrote a worker layer using Rust and WebAssembly on Cloudflare.

Results
