Product / System Purpose

Network Technician Toolkit (NTT) is a standalone Windows network diagnostics utility built for field engineers and IT specialists. It listens for native LLDP/CDP switch broadcasts via Windows pktmon to reveal switch ports and VLAN assignments with deterministic confidence ratings.

Problem Being Solved

Capturing raw Ethernet frames without requiring invasive third-party drivers (such as Npcap or WinPcap) by orchestrating the native Windows Packet Monitor (pktmon), while upholding a strict "never fake certainty" telemetry design philosophy.

Engineering Approach

Engineered asynchronous driverless pktmon wrappers in C#. Designed 6 parallel network health checks (NIC state, IP configuration, default gateway reachability, DNS lookup latency, WAN internet probing, Wi-Fi radio parameters) and a multi-stream throughput engine.

Driverless Switch & VLAN Discovery

Passively monitors LLDP and CDP frames via native pktmon to identify switch model, port, and VLAN.

True Throughput & Health Check

4-stream throughput test excluding TCP slow-start ramps paired with 6 concurrent health diagnostics.

Redacted Multi-Format Reporting

Instant export to HTML, JSON, TXT, and PDF with optional masking of private IP and MAC data.
